SAP will continue to be the market leader in the global ERP industry until 2022, according to a new independent report.
Research found that after retaining its No.1 position back in 2013, SAP will continue to lead the way in the coming decade.
The report, published by the Market Research Store, found that SAP was ahead of ‘key players’ such as Microsoft, IBM, Netsuite and Sage.
Analysis of the industry until 2022 found that the value of the global ERP market is expected to reach more than $47bn with a compound annual growth rate of around 7% expected by researchers.
Report authors say that some of the biggest drivers for market growth include the reduction operational IT costs in organisations and a surge towards cloud technology.
A requirement for real-time data transparency will also see more organisations investing in ERP software to manage operations.
However, the report argues that growth rates could be affected by prolonged deployments and the inability to customise certain solutions that may deter certain potential investors.
The report analysed several different marketing trends and factors. Researchers covered several leading regions, including emerging markets, and factored in different types of deployment options before making their forecast.
The Asia-Pacific area was found to be one of the most productive markets in terms of future growth over the next decade.
Although the impact of cloud computing is set to boost the ERP market, the report predicts that on-premise solutions would still account for more than 50% of systems deployed.
