IIS Group Chief Executive Morgan Browne will hit the streets of Dublin later this week for Focus Ireland’s Shine a Light campaign.
Morgan will experience a night at the mercy of the elements when he sleeps rough within the grounds of the historic Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin on Friday 16th October.
The Shine a Light campaign aims to raise money for the charity to provide practical assistance and respite to families that are in crisis. Funds raised allow the charity to provide day-to-day support to families and their children, which is required when living in emergency accommodation.
This will be the second year that Morgan has raised money for the charity. Last year he joined other business leaders in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens and endured torrential rain throughout the night.
“Family homelessness has reached historic proportions in Ireland. Today there are more than 1,500 children living in emergency accommodation across the country. These children are often unable to get to school, rarely getting a home cooked meal and are sinking into darkness. I simply can’t accept this as today’s landscape across Ireland so I’m joining my peers to make a difference.
“The work that Focus Ireland do for families across Ireland comes at a time when children and their parents need help. Taking a night out to highlight what would happen if these families were made homeless and raising money in the process is the least I can do to help their cause. I’m just hoping it stays dry this time!” Morgan said.
During the IIS Group’s Innovation Summit in Dublin back in September, Morgan made a €3,000 donation to the charity. If you would like to sponsor Morgan please visit his Just Giving page here.
