SAP has elected two new members to its senior leadership team after Christian Klein was appointed Chief Operative Officer and Thomas Saueressig named the new Chief Information Officer.
Saueressig becomes the youngest CIO in a German DAX company at just 31 years old. He will be responsible for leading SAP’s IT division and will report in to Klein.
The new COO originally joined SAP as a student back in 1999. Klein, who has a degree in international business administration, will be tasked with optimising SAP’s end-to-end business processes. He will also be responsible for controlling the overall SAP Group, as well as the company’s growth and profitability strategy until 2020.
Klein has been promoted within SAP after serving as CFO SAP Cloud since March 2012. Prior to that he was Head of Corporate Controlling. Saueressig’s previous roles at SAP include Business Process Consultant, Top Talent Rotation, Executive Board Assistant, Vice President and then Senior Vice President of Global IT.
