SAP appoints first global CIOSAP has appointed its first company-wide Chief Innovation Officer.

Juergen Mueller has been selected for the new position whilst also continuing his roles as lead of the SAP Innovation Centre and Managing Director of SAP Labs Berlin.

In a statement, SAP says the new CINO will drive the company’s “innovation efforts across the company.”

Previously, SAP had created similar positions in its market units in regions such as UK & Ireland, France, Belus, Netherlands, Italy, Nordics and North America.

Mueller joined SAP in 2013 after serving as the research chair at the Hasso Plattner Institute for Software Systems Engineering.

As lead of the SAP Innovation Centre, the 34-year-old is responsible for creating new growth opportunities for SAP by developing disruptive technologies across nine locations in the world.
