When Soil Essentials contacted Milner Browne in July 2014 the agricultural supplier was using several systems to manage operations. The company was using QuickBooks to manage its financials alongside various other spreadsheets and paper documents to keep track of activities. This resulted in a prolonged data duplication tasks and left the business open to human error. More significantly for Soil Essentials, effective and accurate data management was a serious challenge.

Milner Browne visited Soil Essentials- headquarters in Brechin and demonstrated how SAP Business One could improve company processes and streamline key tasks. A customised SAP Business One wholesale and distribution solution was created, including B1 Deferrer, B1 Excel Importer, B1 Repeater, B1 Email and B1 Portal. The solution allowed the company to finally remove all of the disparate systems across the organisation. Soil Essentials could also rely on, manage and maintain a centralised database to store information. SAP Business One also allowed the company manage service calls more effective and access comprehensive customer records in one dashboard.

The Results

By centralising information in a single solution, Soil Essentials removed various data duplication tasks allowing staff to focus on more productive tasks. Information is now more transparent and accessible across the organisation. Staff are now able to check instantly on what stock is in the company’s warehouse. Its support team is also able to access extensive customer records and drill down into relevant information whilst calls are in progress. Additionally, the powerful reporting tools in SAP Business One has helped the company to analyse other areas of the business and now plays an important role in devising the company’s sales strategy.
