The Challenge

Emgas is a leading wholesale and distribution company with more than 75 years- experience trading with gas cylinders. The company, which also stocks welding equipment and garden and patio furniture, had been using the same business management system since the early 1990s. But after experiencing a period of growth the company quickly realised it needed a more sophisticated system after suffering reoccurring issues across the business. A lack of stock management tools resulted in warehouse complications; the CRM functionality was no longer adequate for Emgas- sales team; the company had no means of creating digital invoices; and, more importantly, it had no way of sending technical guidance for products to its technical service department - essential for ensuring regulatory compliance.
SAP Business One is saving us money -  that's for sure. We feel that SAP Business One has already given us a lot of improvements and we're sure there is more to come in the future.

The Results

Emgas has witnessed several key improvements across different departments after deploying SAP Business One. The company has greater control over stock management and can offer essential guidance to its technical service department on separate items. Professional CRM tools in SAP Business One, plus the addition of Milner Browne’s B1 360°, has streamlined the speed and follow-up of quotes.

Another innovative Milner Browne add-on from the B1 Apps range also delivered impressive results. B1 Email provided staff with digital invoicing tools to improve the sales to cash process. Digital invoicing has saved the company -25k per annum, alongside productivity gains. The company’s finance team is also able to complete tax reports more effectively and make electronic bank payments from SAP Business One.

Systematic tools in SAP Business One have dramatically reduced the time taken to process sales orders – and eliminate the chances of human errors. In fact, Emgas were so impressed with SAP Business One that it adopted ISO9001 processes to match the way the system works.

By storing all data in a single solution, Emgas has witnessed improved levels of customer service. Customer-facing personnel now have instant access into service calls and the majority of queries are now answered immediately.
